Uh-oh Cade's charm doesn't seem to be working. And for the people worried about the young Nefertina, she won't be fighting. Now down the road (way down the road) she'll have a bigger part, but for now I assure you she'll be fine (mostly). TWC image is Nephatia doing some sexy Hawkeye poses.

Hawkeye needs to change his costume to that...and carry his bow like that 24/7.

I'm probably not the first to point it out, but juuuuuuuust in case I am, "griffons that were", not where.

The first sentence of the second paragraph in the third panel should be "He died defending our village from the griffons that *were* destroying our homes..."

Also, get killed by the gryphons or get killed by the wife. Wonder if he knew about that particular detail before he exchanged vows.

I'm sure he knew about it ahead of time - that's probably one of the reasons why he married her, because she had high standards, and conversely she probably married him because she knew he was the type of guy she wasn't going to need to kill. For example, whoever marries Loth is not going to ever have to worry about her running away from a fight, and she's not likely to marry someone who would do so either.
Ogre Monday, the 19th of August at 12:45 AM, 2013 edit delete reply
Yeah, but there's a difference between marrying someone who wants a brave spouse and marrying someone who gives you a "do this and I'll kill you" ultimatum.

Nice outfit in the voting image, btw. I assume it came out of a spray can?

Somehow I do not think that Cade's "run away" strategy will work here.
mcjstar Friday, the 16th of August at 9:22 AM, 2013 edit delete reply
Yeah, I'm betting she's a pretty deadly shot with that bow. I think Cade's options here are get shot in the front with an arrow and pray you live long enough to surrender, or get shot in the back running away and pray she doesn't kill you for being a coward.
Ed8 Friday, the 16th of August at 9:28 PM, 2013 edit delete reply
I doubt that's his only options. Sure, in real life, you start a fight 50 yards away from an expert bowman and no long range weapon of your own, you're toast. In fiction, though, that's a boring narrative, so "Cade gets shot and dies" is not going to be what happens in the next strip. Cade possesses genre-awareness, therefore he knows that won't happen, and almost certainly has a plan that involves making the fight overly dramatic.

Tina's a... fiesty little thing, isn't she!

Believe Cade is going to surprise everyone (probably even himself)
groovechampion Friday, the 16th of August at 4:19 PM, 2013 edit delete reply
I expect Cade to go nuts like it he did with that Wolf-dude.
"YOU KILLED MY PARENTS!"

Cade, as is frequently the case with thief-type characters in fantasy worlds and RPGs, has exhibited a lot of luck. Comic hijinx while not getting seriously hit with any arrows is absolutely within character for him.
Ed8 Saturday, the 17th of August at 3:58 PM, 2013 edit delete reply
And if he does get hit by an arrow, it will not be a lethal shot - he will most likely get hit in the ass, because 99% of the time that comic relief characters get hit by arrow, that's where they get hit.
Nostradumbass Sunday, the 18th of August at 12:00 AM, 2013 edit delete reply
I think Cade will lose this fight considering if he wins we will not see the other two main characters fight. He probably won't die, though. Perhaps he'll just run away out of the arena to avoid the arrows. We still have yet to see Kreia and Big Girl fight Kinuko and Ral.
