So Mars describes anyone that's played D&D? Also I wonder how many people will catch the reference in this page. I didn't think anybody was going to get my Starship Troopers joke so I guess we'll see. TWC image is hillbilly Kinuko, or Breaking Bad Kinuko, whatever.

Final Fantasy 6. Someone talking about Shadow. That's a good reference you got there.

I'd trust a self-centered money grubbing bastard a country mile over a self-appointed do-gooder.

I wouldn't. Yes, the greedy bastard is far more predictable, but being able to predict someone's behavior is not at all the same as being able to trust them. Since the greedy bastard, in real life at least, is not likely to tell you up front that he is one, I assume we're going on reputation? I would trust someone with a good reputation over someone with a greedy bastard reputation any day. That being said, I am an untrusting fellow, so I wouldn't trust either of them as far as I could throw them, however I could probably throw the good guy a little further, as the greedy bastard's pockets would be loaded down with gold, treasure, and probably my wallet that he lifted when I was being too trusting of him.

Figures. Read the archive in a sitting, now I need to wait for new content.

Definitely enjoying the story so far, the art work started well and has improved over time, and I really want to see more of the tale. The fan service is an added bonus.

Hope the mistaken dialogue is figured out sooner rather then later. Just waiting for Loth and Ral to destroy a perfectly good inn in the process (wink wink nudge nudge).

And the final bit: is the reference from the film or the book? I've only read the book, and I can't figure it out.

Glad you're enjoying it. Sokora nailed it. The "slit mama throat" line is either Locke or Edgar talking about Shadow, from the game Final Fantasy 6. The reason I didn't think people would get it was the line We used was from the Super Nintendo version, in the remakes(PS1, GBA) the line was change to something a little less cool

He wouldn't slit his daughter's throat no matter the cost.
Instead he left Relm safe with an old fogey. (from Shadow's memory-dreams)
I think he crafted that image to become anonymous enough that his family wouldn't get swept up in his troubles.

Bonus points if the local guild hall is led by a ninja named Clyde. :D

I have to say... I love how Loth looks in that last panel!

Normally, I'm sort of 'feh' about the way she looks (don't kill me, fans. It's just one person's opinion) But in the final panel, she looks more 'robust' and sultry. More of the beauty model that most want her to be... at least, it's the way it is to me :p

For a second there, I thought he was going to repeat the most famous line in fiction:
"You'll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy!"
