Just like in real life, it's not what you know, it's WHO you know. Don't bother studying unless you're going to be a scientist or engineer. Also a little bird's eye view for ya! I always seem to spend too much (or not enough) time trying to come up with interesting camera angles.

So let me get this straight ...

Last week they were about to throw Ral and the other out (or worse), knowing he's a half elfen b#####d - as they put it - and now it's 'welcome home book bird'? If they knew his mother so well (as they do apparently) why act like he's a total stranger to them when they first met him?

In other news:
Ral's mother peacefully lives next door with the the guy who brutally raped her years ago ... What the hell?

@Bob, the first part will be explained shortly.
The second is Ral's father is General so his camps can and often do move. Is it cliche that they're so close together right now? Yes, but frankly that was a concise decision on my part. But he has a mobile army so he has to keep moving. The surrounding area can't support his men and himself for long because an army is going to munch it's way through stores of food. No matter how much the humans may hate the elves they can't keep an army on their door steps for long.
